What is chain fishing?

Reeling in Pokémon in a row in X, Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

In Gen 6, fishing from the same spot over and over builds a streak. Each Pokémon you hook adds two extra shiny rolls, up to a streak of 20.

Odds

At a streak of 20 or more the rate reaches about 1 in 100, or about 1 in 96 with the Shiny Charm. The bonus applies whether you defeat, catch or run from the Pokémon.

Keep the streak alive

• Stay in the same spot. Leaving breaks the chain.
• If you cast and reel in nothing, the chain breaks.
• A lead with the Run Away Ability can always flee, which saves time on each catch.
