What is the difference between full odds and boosted odds?

What hunters mean by "full odds", and what counts as a boost.

"Full odds" is a hunter term for a shiny found at the game's plain base rate with no help: 1 in 8,192 in Gen 2 to Gen 5, or 1 in 4,096 from Gen 6 on. "Boosted odds" means any method, item or mechanic that adds extra chances on top.

What usually counts as a boost

Is the Shiny Charm still full odds?

Communities draw the line in different places. Most treat the Shiny Charm as a boost, because it changes the math. Some hunters label hunts as "full odds", "charm odds" or "boosted" so it is always clear. There is no official rule, so pick the label that fits your own goals.

Which should you do?

Both are valid. Full-odds hunts are a bigger challenge; boosted hunts get you more shinies for your time. ShinyHunt tracks either way.
