Mass outbreaks in Legends: Arceus and Scarlet and Violet, with the real numbers for each.
A mass outbreak fills an area with one species. Both Legends: Arceus and Scarlet and Violet boost shiny odds in outbreaks, but they work very differently.
Legends: Arceus
- Mass outbreaks add 25 shiny rolls, about 1 in 158 at base.
- Massive mass outbreaks add 12 rolls, about 1 in 315.
- Both stack with research level and the Shiny Charm. The best case is about 1 in 128.
- Shinies make a sound and sparkle in the overworld, so you can spot them from a distance.
Scarlet and Violet
- An outbreak gives nothing extra until you clear some of it. Clearing 30 adds 1 roll; clearing 60 adds 2.
- Defeating or catching counts. Pokémon that just despawn when you leave the area do not.
- It stacks with the Shiny Charm and Sparkling Power, up to about 1 in 512.
